Banana Nut Jam

Banana Nut Jam

10 ripe bananas, pureed for total of 3 cups
2 Tb. lemon juice
4 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. toasted walnuts, minced
1 box powdered pectin
1 teas. cinnamon
1/2 teas. nutmeg, optional

Mix bananas, walnuts, lemon juice and powdered pectin in a large non-reactive
pan and stir while bringing to a full boil. Add sugars stirring continuously,
heat until full boiling boil. Continue to heat 1 -2 minutes. Fill jars to 1/4
inch of top and apply lids. Process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
Makes 6 half pints or 3 pints.

I haven't tried this yet but it looks yum.

Solar Natural Dyeing - wool



Having some fun with natural dyes and a bunch of glass gallon jars I got at a garage sale. :)

Yarns dyed with black tea, sandalwood, onion skins, cochineal, logwood, carrot tops, osage orange, and turmeric.
