We did an amazing river float yesterday, to celebrate my 31st birthday. The day was absolutely spectacular - mid 70's, sunny, light breeze. Chris Adkins (pictured below), a fellow I knew when I was but a mere high school student, ran the canoe school. He's a FANTASTIC and fascinating speaker - Dallas County Conservation is lucky to have him. He said that the river gods were smiling upon us, as it was near-perfect conditions to be on the river, and I agree. It was educational, relaxing, and , as trite as it sounds, spiritual. A perfect birthday celebration, in my eyes.

I love spring! And I love springtime FOODS. These gorgeous morels are $15/lb. at our local farm-fresh-goods-store, Picket Fence Creamery. They are spectacular! We've also been eating fresh local spinach, salad greens, and asparagus, omg. yum.

We even got our first CSA bag - a sort of pre-season bonus. It contained asparagus, chives, and green onions. MMMM!!

I have also figured out how to do pizza on the grill. It is the best. thing. ever.
