A bubbling dyepot, full of purple basil and scarves.....




and, this illustrates fun with chemistry! This scarf was dyed with purple basil - the left side was modified with an acid (vinegar), and the right side was modified with alkalai (ammonia). Amazing, hmm?



Same basic story here - this silk hankie was dyed with elderberries, then a few squeezes of lemon juice made brilliant hotpink polkadots. cool!!



In other news, I knit this hat for a friend of mine; it's being modeled by a butternut squash from my CSA. :) don't you love the colors?!?
