Etsy is amazing. i have gotten such great fiber from there lately! The top is a roving "bouquet" from Spiderweb Specialties. GAWD, it is soft and luscious, and comes in fantastic natural colors! It's a blend of A luxury blend of 70% Shetland, 20% alpaca and 10% angora. I mean...wow. I am collecting this roving in hopes of making a sweater for myself.

The beautiful blue/green/gold is "Posy toes" - snake plant colorway. I am lusting after more of this...i am in love with several of her colorful batts! It is from Feistywoman designs, and comes with really wonderful instructions/suggestions for the best way to spin this roving for different color effects. very cool.

Last but not least, my friend Terri and i are sharing a "share" of the first-ever fiber CSA, from Martha's Vineyard Fiber Farm - i LOVE community supported agriculture, and think this is a wonderful wonderful idea. I hope it is the first of many fiber csas!

Yesterday, my friend Sally invited all us local fiber geeks out to her alpaca ranch to see the shearing - how cool! Unfortunately the shearer ended up coming over way earlier than expected, so most of us didn't get to see the actual shearing, but we still loved visiting her place and meeting the alpacas! Here are a few of the gang sporting their new hairdos. Also a beautiful (handsome?) rooster, and Terri hanging out with the friendly Nubian goats! Most people left with several pounds of soft, beautiful alpaca fiber to spin. I think Sally has a great idea- invite spinners over for shearing and you've got half your fleeces sold on the spot! Great idea! :)
