Happy Things:

Being part of the Downtown Des Moines Farmer's market - utterly full of amazing food, people, and loads of fun. I'm so delighted we have such a fun, vibrant and exciting market here!

My new sparkly hula hoops. :) (this little mini-pictorial of my hobbies amuses me greatly).

The mini-herb garden located 1 foot outside my kitchen door. I have no idea how people cook without loads of fresh herbs nearby. Here we have 2 kinds of thyme, 2 nasturtiums, rosemary, basil, cilantro, marjoram and parsley. More thyme, sage, oregano, lemon balm, mint, fennel and some others I am forgetting are planted just a few feet away.

And these gorgeous birthday flowers I got from my wonderful, sweet, generous friend Amy! Aren't they beautiful?

Also not pictured, the "new" bike I got, and, the fact that I can now run 3 miles without dying. Now, if only I could master the pullup bar and a handstand...when I can do those things I will be a VERY happy girl.....

Don't you just love a great market??? Des Moines sounds like a fantastic market.

Love your pics! Your mini-herb garden looks great! I agree with your about cooking with fresh herbs.

I'm planting a container with mints (yea, I learned the hard way many years ago! Had to sell the house to get rid of the mint!!) Any great suggestions? I want to make teas.

MOJITOS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have your mints picked out? there are SO many great kinds! I personally love chocolate mint, candy mint, and orange mint. but that is just me. I dry them on the stem then strip the leaves when dry and store in an airtight container. OR strip leaves just after you cut the mint and dry on a dehdyrator, screen, brown-bag-in-a-car method or in a gas oven (my fave, because my mom has an amazing six burner gas oven that i totally covet). Mixes well with so many herbs for tea - nearly all of them imo...
