So....after picking up a bunch of plants today for my shop, we find the most frantic little duckling stranded on a busy highway in town! Poor fellow! He was gonna get run over. And there was no momma duck (or water!) anywhere in sight. I have NO idea where he came from. So we caught him (those little fellows run fast!), and brought him back to the farm. Hey, we've been wanting to get some chickens or other fowl anyway...this just spurs us to action. We got him a little duckie friend so he isn't lonely....they can swim in my mom's 4-foot pond. :) (The one we caught is the yellow one, and the one we bought is the brown one. Does anyone have any idea what kind these are???)

Ooooh, they're so cuuuuuute! I'm so glad you rescued the little yellow one and that it has a friend now. Do they have names yet?

I saw some ducklings and their mother running across a big road the other day and we turned the car around to make sure they managed to get up the curb on the opposite side of the road. ;)

(BTW, I'm just a random person popping in from seeing your ID and wondering about it on a team blog somewhere or other ... I think. I'm not entirely sure because I was sort of stream-of-consciousness clicking through this World Wide Web of ours ... ;))

the yellow one is probably not a mallard, they have a black stripe that crosses over their eye. Other than that, I guess you have to wait till it grows up a little, but that won't take long.
the other one could be a cayuga or black east indies...
here's a good site with duck pictures: FeatherSite the whole site is devoted to taking care of poultry.

They don't have names yet, but, we're working on it. :) We'll see what their little duckie personalities are like, then give them names. Yep, we'll be sure to update with pics. Hanna, thanks for the info, I will do some clicking around on feathersite!
